I like this short film because is comes across very quirky and unique. I like the use of props - the mask- and the low key lighting suggesting the girl is hiding behind the light or is 'in the closet', holding some sort of secret identity others maybe unaware of. I'm also quite fond of the contrast between the low key lighting and black and white scenes.
My favourite part of this award winning short film is where the girl is put on 'rewind' and is shown walking and doing things in reverse. I think is was a very smart way of editing.
The detail on the girls mask compared to the masks of her class mates suggest she is the main subject as the mask of her peers are all very plain and light colours. The position in frame when the girl is walking through the halls show she is isolated from everyone else. We also see the different cliques of friends wearing the same colour masks to show they belong whilst the girls mask is white and completely different.
The beginning and the near end of the film are the same in reverse. The beginning being a flash shot of the climax whilst we are then shown what happens to reach this climax. By the end the girl is able to throw away her mask and show her true identity as well as everyone else in the hall ways. This girl is now clear with her identity an is socially accepted.
